Some things are well worth raising a glass to. A testimonial year for Derbyshire favourite Wayne Madsen is one of them – and now there is the perfect beer to toast him with.
Littleover Brewery, founded by beer enthusiast Tim Dorrington less than two years ago after he took early retirement from Rolls-Royce and now a leading player in Derby’s prospering small brewery scene, have launched a special beer to celebrate the former Derbyshire skipper’s testimonial year.
It is called 77 – after Wayne’s shirt number, of course – and it is already making an appearance on bars throughout the county.
Here are the first pubs to take a cask of 77:
The Alexandra, Derby
Kings Ditch, Tamworth
The Peacock, Derby
The Observatory, Ilkeston
Cosy Club, Derby
Littleover Social Club
Steamboat, Trent Lock
Victory Club, Allenton
Other pubs and bars are sure to follow suit soon and 77 is set to match the success of SB5 – another special beer produced by Littleover Brewery to mark former Derby County player Shaun Barker’s testimonial year.
With part of the price of every pint of 77 donated towards Wayne’s testimonial year, there is even more reason to seek it out, raise a glass and say “Cheers, Madders!”
